Queensland
Queensland (QLD) passed the Qld industrial hemp legislation in 2002. This is touted as the most progressive commercial industrial hemp legislation in the world.
New South Wales
New South Wales (NSW) has recently passed legislation for commercial cropping and research trials of Industrial hemp, with applications for licence through NSW Health.
Victoria
Victoria (VIC) has had commercial legislation in place since 1998. A number of growers have planted commercial/trial crops since that time but require secured processing and markets to proceed.
Tasmania
Tasmania (TAS) has had the longest history of commercial hemp legislation in Australia, since 1995. Production there has focused on Finola grain production through a co-operative farming group.
Western Australia (WA)
Western Australia (WA) passed legislation to grow industrial hemp commercially in 2004 and trials are now being conducted by the Department of Agriculture.
Northern Territory
The NT has not had an industrial hemp trial program to date.
